Catchment Management and Co-Design

Ministry of Primary Industries, Hawkes Bay Regional Council and Wairoa District Council

ProjectHaus has supported this catchment based project that is a joint initiative driven and lead by the Wairoa community.

The co-design process involved key stakeholders, tangata whenua and community members, with an overall objective of creating more sustainable land use.

This was a great opportunity for community members to understand each other’s perspectives and build towards mutually-agreeable land management solutions.

Water Security and Infrastructure Development

Hawke's Bay Regional Council / Private Company

Amanda has played a leading role in advancing the Heretaunga Water Storage Project (HWSP), a major water storage and augmentation scheme in Hawke's Bay comprising a 27 Mm³ reservoir on the upper Ngaruroro River. She led the project through scoping and prefeasibility at Hawke's Bay Regional Council, then guided its transfer out of Council into an independent delivery vehicle — Heretaunga Water Storage Limited — jointly owned by mana whenua authorities, municipal councils, and irrigators/industrial users. Amanda now serves as Chief Operating Officer, leading the project through feasibility and consenting under New Zealand's Fast-track Approvals Act, with Crown co-funding secured through Kānoa.

Capability Development and Review

Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) Investment Portfolio Group

ProjectHaus supported MPI in establishing their Investment Portfolio Group.

We were then asked to lead an MPI review of the Irrigation Acceleration Fund (IAF) to better deliver a coordinated interface for regional irrigation infrastructure.

Development functions that sat with MPI were subsequently transferred to Crown Irrigation Investments Limited to enable an end to end service for both the development and construction of an infrastructure proposal.

Crown Irrigation

ProjectHaus supported Crown Irrigation Investments Limited (CIIL) in the assessment and management of government funding committed to the development and construction of regional irrigation schemes that had the potential to generate long-term economic benefits  for New Zealand.

Supporting and facilitating workshops with Crown Irrigation staff, ProjectHaus helped develop  and implement  internal policy and processes to ensure applicants were engaged and supported, and that decision makers could make decisions with confidence.
